My day is thirty tabs deep by 10am, earnings calls, an oil chart, someone's Substack, a PDF I'll never open again. Before, if I found something good mid-scroll, I'd tell myself "I'll remember this," and I never did.

Now the bubble just sits in the corner of whatever I'm looking at. I use shortcuts to grab the article, tag it with the ticker, and move on. When I actually need to think, end of day, building a thesis, I ask the assistant to read everything I tagged that week and give me the thirty-second version. It's not that I got smarter. I just stopped losing the good stuff.

I used to have a graveyard of PDFs on my desktop named things like "final_v2_ACTUAL." I'd tell myself I'd organize it on Friday. Fridays came and went.

Now a paper gets dragged in the second I download it, tagged by project, done. The part that actually changed how I work is asking the assistant to read across everything I've saved and pull out a connection I hadn't noticed myself, two papers from different years that were quietly arguing with each other. I didn't have to remember I'd saved either one.

Filing season used to mean sticky notes around my monitor and a reminders app I set up once and never opened again. Every client's documents lived in a slightly different mental folder that only made sense to me at 8am.

Half of what I get now is a phone photo of a receipt or a scanned report, not a clean PDF. I used to have to sit down and type the numbers out myself. Now I just drop the image in, the assistant recognizes it's an invoice or a report, pulls the actual figures out of it, and hands it back to me ready to analyze, forward to a client, or save straight as a note. When someone calls asking if I got their filing, I search their name and I have it in two seconds, instead of pretending to look while I actually panic.
